[T]he NHL is booming. The money it pulls in is more than ever before, and franchise values have never been higher. In this environment, Bettman and the owners flatly want to pay the players less money — not in the future, but now. It’s their right to demand so. But I can’t imagine why one would expect the players to agree to it.
